Brandon Sieg
Head Instructor
Brandon Sieg is honored to practice and hold rank in a wide variety of martial arts. He has a 7th degree
and 5th degree black belt in TKD (Chung Do Kwan and Kukkiwon) and is a graduate of the Kukkiwon International
Masters course (3rd class) and a certified Kukkiwon Promotion Examiner (3rd class). He holds
a Black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Kristian Woodmansee Team Logic,
and 6th and 7th degree black belts in Hapkido (KHF and USHF). Brandon is also a certified instructor in FAST Defense,
Chinna (Chinese joint locking under Dr. Yang Jwing Ming), Tai Chi Ch'uan (New School Tai Chi and William
CC Chen) as well as Instructor certification in Tricom combatives (tactical clinch module).
Brandon is also an Apprentice Elite Instructor in Martial Concepts. In addition to being the head instructor
at GMA, Mr. Sieg is on staff at Indiana University where he teaches martial arts
and self-defense classes. He also formerly taught at DePauw for 20 years.
Brandon's professional experience is widely versatile, including technical consultation for kickboxing
programs, teaching physical therapists Tai Chi exercises for the elderly, training SWAT team members in
combatives, and working with
stalking victims to learn incredibly necessary self-defense. Brandon has also been an expert witness in
self-defense and martial arts legal cases and is Vice President of the USHF. Mr. Sieg's formal education
includes a Masters in Kinesiology
(Sport Management emphasis), a BS in biology, and a minor in East Asian Language and Culture. Mr. Sieg tries
to educate beyond his classes by writing. He is the author of "Drops Against the Stone"and has been
published in the Journal
of Asian Martial Arts, Martial Arts Success, and other trade publications.
David Yoshida
Instructor, Taekwondo, Hapkido
David Yoshida has a 5th degree black belt in Taekwondo (Kukkiwon), is a graduate of the
Kukkiwon International Masters course (3rd class) and is a certified Kukkiwon Promotion Examiner (3rd class).
He holds two 3rd degree black belts in Hapkido (KHF and USHF), and a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He is also
a certified member of our FAST Defense team. As one of GMA's most senior students,
he has assisted both at DePauw University and instructs at Martinsville. Mr. Yoshida has also appeared in
martial arts movies and commercials and consults for the GMA Demo Team.
Mike Dodge (on right)
Instructor, Kid's Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Over the years Mr. Dodge has practiced a variety of grappling disciplines (wrestling, judo, hapkido) but
has focused on BJJ for over the past ten, earning the rank of Black belt under Kristian Woodmansee. Mr Dodge is
one of the main instructors in both the adult and kids BJJ program.
Clay Thacker (on left)
Instructor, Kid's Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Clay Thacker also had a strong wrestling and grappling background before becoming a member of our BJJ
team (now a black belt), and also had a successful amateur MMA career. Mr. Thacker helps with both our
adult and kids BJJ classes and serves as the primary wrestling coach.
