Relay for Life demo and seminar
-------------------------------
GMA Hapkido is in charge of an hour of entertainment at the upcoming relay for life event. We are doing a short demo and free seminar event from 1-2 am. Sat morning (on Fri night, depending on how you look at it.) Attendance this week is crucial. Plan to meet at the Martinsville High School around 12:30 near the endzone. Anyone else wishing to support the Relay for Life can purchase luminaries from Mrs. Scott (sorry for the short notice) for 10 dollars. This can be donated in name of a cancer survivor or in memory of someone who lost their battle with cancer.

TTCA SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION and TTCA Testing
----------------------------------------------
TTCA summer camp is quickly approaching on June 28-30th. Registrations need to be turned in, with checks to the TTCA, by June 11th. This is to ensure everyone receives a place in the barracks. Driving directions are available from Mr. Miller. Parents can stay in the barracks, eat meals at the camp while watching the kids, camp in a tent at another campground or stay in hotels in nearby Corydon, IN (approx 15-20 minutes away). Again, talk to an instructor if you have questions on what to do. You get lots of classes and points and a lot of unique information is presented. Next TTCA testing is Sat, June 29th at Summer camp at 4:00pm. You may test even if you are not going to the camp. Pre-testing will begin this week in classes for those who are eligible.

After-school program a huge success
-----------------------------------
GMA recently finished an after-school program at Poston Road Elementary that had 105 participants from grades k-15. You will see several of these students phase in to the Martinsville school in the next couple of weeks. These students come to us with classes under their belt from the after-school program, but are still new to the school, so be sure to welcome them. A very sincere thanks goes to Mr. Boardman, Ms. Dill, Mr. and Mrs. Yoshida, Katie Roe, Derek Smith, and Mrs. Amanda Tipton from IU who helped the badly outnumbered Mr. Sieg and Mr. Miller. It would not have been the success it was without the caring and dedication of our black belts and upper rank students.

Misc:
-----
Congrats to black belt Mrs. Tracy Charlton, who will be getting married this coming weekend. Ms. Dill will be part of the ceremony, a testimony to the bonds of friendship formed in the martial arts. Listen for GMA radio spots. GMA Martinsville is in negotiation to sponsor the 4th and goal program on Spirit 95 radio on Wed mornings at 7:15. The subject of this program is consistent with the character development and leadership that comes from martial arts training, so we are excited about the natural fit. We welcome your feedback on this endeavor. The ads could start as early as next week.
