and Mr. Sieg for passing his sa-dan (4th degree) test.
----------------- Upcoming testings -----------------
Hapkido
Testings DPU held lower rank testing on Wed. March 20th. Congrats to our new
yellow belts. Upper rank testing is scheduled for Wed, April 3rd at DPU. Also a
reminder that the GMA black belt test in Hapkido is scheduled for Sat. April 6th
after the USHF seminar. Black belt ceremony will immediately follow. TTCA
Testing and Ceremony The next TTCA test will be on April 14th. Black belt
presentation ceremonies for Mr. Sieg and Mr. Boardman will be held during this
test. However, our short list for the next testing is very large and we hope to
be able to hold our own testing a couple of weeks later at either DPU or
Martinsville.
----------------- Upcoming Seminars -----------------
Jason Winkle seminar presented by DPU Hapkido. Jason Winkle
will be doing a seminar at DPU on Fri March 22 from 2:30-6:30 and Sat. March 23
from 1-5 pm. This is one of the last opportunities to work with Mr. Winkle
before he leaves to take an assignment as combatives instructor at West Point
Military Academy. Topics will include stick, knife, and range flow (fluid
transitions between types of techniques). Cost is free to DPU students, $10 to
GMA students, and $20 to the general public. No video cameras please.
Spring United States Hapkido Federation seminar will be hosted by DPU Hapkido on Sat. April 6th. Registration starts at 9:00-9:30 and opening up line begins at 9:30-10:00. It will run to approximately 4:00 pm including a lunch break. Cost is $30 for USHF members, $50 for nonmembers. A list of presenters and topics will be included in the promotional materials that will soon be posted in the schools. A reminder that GMA will hold a black belt test for DPU Hapkido that evening starting at 6:00 pm.
Bill West will bring his unique perspective on Hapkido (a result of his experience in law enforcement tactical training) to a rare "civilian" seminar hosted by DPU Hapkido on Sat. April 27th from 12-4. Topics include liabilities and legalities of response, pressure points, alternative directions of response, and the realities of multiple attackers. This is truly a unique opportunity to learn from a person who is definitely "battle tested". Cost is free to DPU students, $10 to GMA students, $20 to USHF members, and $25 for nonmembers. Driving directions to the Lilly Center on the DPU campus can be found on the GMA website: http://www.gentrymartialarts.com/html/gma_depauw_directions.html
TTCA summer camp dates are set. Mark your calendars for June 28-30th.
